Our practical approach to legal problems draws on the thirty years' experience of our founder as a participant in and legal service provider to the information technology industry. The practice was founded in 2010 by Randy Whitmeyer, who previously practiced 11 years as a partner at Hutchison Law Group and also practiced at Gordon & Glickson, a leading international information technology law firm based in Chicago (subsequently merged with McGuire Woods), and at Womble Carlyle, a regional full-service law firm.

Randy is a member of the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the International Technology Law Association (where he served as U.S. Recent Developments Editor).  He speaks and writes regularly on legal issues affecting the technology industry and the Internet.  He has lectured at UNC law school and helped create and co-taught a course on legal and policy issues associated with information technology at UNC-Charlotte.

Randy graduated in 1991 magna cum laude from Northwestern University School of Law, where he received the John Paul Stevens Award for Academic Excellence for graduating at the top of his class. In 1984, Randy graduated summa cum laude with a Computer Science degree from Duke University. From 1984 to 1988, Randy worked full-time in various technical and senior management positions at a start-up computer software company.
